WHO WRITES THE SONGS?

About the Composers

The midi files that are used as background music on the cards and fun pages of Happy Day Cards are used with permission granted by the persons who have composed and sequenced these files.  PLEASE NOTE that these kind folks gave me permission to use their music -- if YOU wish to use their music you must contact each of them individually for permission.

PLEASE DO NOT SAVE THE MUSIC FILES FROM MY WEB SITE TO YOUR COMPUTER, and do not link to them.   That is:  You may certainly use the same songs I'm using, but contact the composers first for their permission, and then download them to your computer from their web site.  They are all very nice people, and quite helpful as well.  Following is an alphabetical list of the composers with a little information about each of them:

DEB ACKLEY:  Deb had a popular midi web site featuring her own compositions.  She took her site off line in the fall of 2004.   A lot of us miss her and her music!  She still gets credit here for the songs I am using that she wrote and sequenced (still with her permission).

GEOFF ANDERSON:  Geoff and his wife form a many-talented team, with several wonderful web sites between them.   He has composed many songs specifically for her beautiful pages, but is most generous about sharing them with other web masters.   Recently he has gone to a membership system for downloading his songs because his open system was badly abused.   Geoff also has CDs of his beautiful music for sale.  Please respect his creativity and his wishes.

B&B MUSIC:  They had one song available on their web site as a sample.   If you wish to use any of their other songs you had to sign up with them and obtain a license.   Their web site seems to have disappeared from the world wide web, however.

BRUCE DeBOER:  Bruce, who lives in Wisconsin, USA, writes absolutely beautiful music with Celtic, New Age and Classical sounds.  He has midi files, MP3 format files, and many CDs available for purchase on his web site.

PRYSE DUERFELDT:  At Northern Michigan University, Marquette, Michigan, Pryse worked with their sister city Yokaichi, Japan to sequence the songs for their web site.  His renditions are crisp and clear.  You may contact him by E MAIL.

DAVID FOLSUM:  Some of my pages feature songs written by David W.Folsom, who doesn't choose to tell us about himself on his website, but that's OK -- he writes great midis.

COLIN JOHNSON:  This very talented gentleman lived in several countries during his working career, and is now retired "back home" in England.   He keeps busy writing novels which are fun to read, but have not been published except on his own web site, writing and performing music, and even painting pictures.  He has a lot of midi versions of original songs that he wrote over the years for English pantomimes and operettas.   He also has a huge collection of midi versions of Victorian and Edwardian operettas on his site.  Well worth a visit!

JMC:  From Damascus, Syria, and from Jalal, a very kind man who considers "everyone in the world to be (his) friend, unless they harm others", comes a lovely collection of very listenable and usable original midi and MP3 compositions.  You may also purchase his CD on his web site.

BJORN LYNNE:  Bjorn is originally from Norway, and currently living in England.  A professional musician, Bjorn allows you to download some of his songs from his web site for YOUR PERSONAL listening pleasure.  You may also purchase his CD's there.  He also composes music for CDRom games.  If you wish to use any of his compositions on a web site of any kind you must contact him to make arrangements.

T.J. MOIR:   Tom is a Scotsman currently living in New Zealand.  His music files are crisp and clear, and mostly small enough that they will load quickly.  There is a good variety of different sounds from which to choose on his web site.

RAGTIME BILL ROWLAND:   Peppy Ragtime piano music from a really nice guy who lives in Oklahoma, USA.  He was the only ragtime music composer that I wrote to for permission who bothered to respond in any way to my request.  Even if you don't want to use any ragtime music on your web site, his site is a fun place to visit just to hear the songs.
